Proud of my kids
Today was the first time we went to get our pictures taken with Lillian, and everything went really smooth. Hunter was a lot more into it this time than his disappointing two year-old photos (which he did not want to partake in at all).
We started by letting Lillian get her photos taken knowing she'd be the easiest to take. Hunter then got a little jealous and wanted photos taken with her. We got some really nice photos of the two of them together. It was working really well.
We then got family photos taken because this is the first time we had photos taken when our family is complete. They turned out really nice, but the one in which I'm standing my head kind of got cut off and Miranda asked why I was so tall.
Finally Hunter sat down and took photos with the big "3" because these were going to count as his three year-old pictures too. He did really well, and then we gave him a sucker and some McDonald's as a reward.
All in all the day went very well, and I am very proud of my kids. My family is complete. Now there's photo evidence of that.
Transformers beats Spider-man!
Okay, okay. You're probably wondering what on earth this title could even be remotely about. Let me tell you. My two-year old son, who's already a superhero/action junkie, has now determined that Transformers or "robots" are better than Spider-man which he's been obsessing over for the past two to three months.
He saw Transformers on the televisions at a local store and asked, "What's that? I need that!" My wife told him it was Transformers, and he promptly picked it up off the movie shelf and wouldn't turn this movie down for any of the usual kid movies like Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., etc.
Since my son brought that movie home last night he's been watching Transformers pretty much non-stop when he's been awake. He's particularly obsessed with Bumble Bee. He has been telling us that's his robot, and that he's a good robot. Which is true to an extent. We were ready to give him a Spider-man birthday party in a couple months (which I can't believe he's almost three), but I think that we're going to go to a Transformers party with a Bumble Bee birthday cake for him. I'm going to start hunting down really cool Transformers toys for him in the process.
The future is looking brighter
Everyone knows my wife was laid off from her job a few weeks ago. We're now pulling unemployment to help make ends meet. We've also had a very large expense come up that I won't go into too much detail, but it also cost friendship due to myself and this other person being in two completely different mindsets. Either way $1,500 later and one lost friend, things were looking pretty bleak.
Now enter a brand new day. The sun is shining, birds are chirping and life is going on as it were. I come home from work to find a surplus check from our escrow for our home. Talk about a small windfall! This money gives us a brighter future knowing that if something goes wrong we're not in real financial danger. It's going to allow us to pay off some things more quickly as well.
Now the future is starting to look brighter. My wife and I remain optimistic. My place of employment is weathering the times the best it can which helps the optimism. Maybe by Christmas we won't be fretting like we've been the past month. Here's to looking forward.
