Consider using a guest blogger
Let's face it. You're only one person. You may have a lot of ideas brewing in your head, but you sometimes cannot get the words out. Consider using a guest blogger to introduce new content to your website. They can offer a new perspective as well as give you a reprieve from trying to think of all the content. Today I'm going to ask those of you who read my blog to contact me @bcoppernoll on Twitter, and I will get you set up to post a special guest post!
A TV commercial written like web content
Applebee's has been launching it's new "Under 550 Calories" menu for the past couple months, and I do think the food looks great. Traditionally I skip commercials when I'm watching television, but last night I left the room to do a quick chore and left the TV to do it's thing. When I came back I caught an Applebee's commercial putting it's under 550 calories menu on display. I realized quickly they wrote the script similar to the fashion that web content should be written - with keywords.
Forget what you know about a website redesign
Forget what you know about a website redesign. I'm going to go out on a limb and just say it. You're probably wrong. When I first started programming websites it was a race to find out who could produce the coolest, flashiest website design, and every website was trying to come out with the next "ah-ha" design or something that would make your jaw drop to your keyboard. In 2010 this is not the case...not even close.
Google Blog Search: How did I miss this?
I have been blogging on a WordPress engine for over a year. I have also been in the business for internet marketing, search engine marketing and blogging even longer. Somehow...someway...Google Blog Search flew in under my radar, and I am sad to say I missed it. Then I thought to myself, "What kind of use can I get out of this?"
Is your name a domain name?
A little over a year ago I purchased brandoncoppernoll.com and bcoppernoll.com to start building a personal brand. I set up a blog and now write on it two to three times a week. My goal is to provide information about web development, internet marketing, search marketing and business blogging, and it is a great avenue for family and friends to keep up with what has been going on in my life. My personal brand is to become a leader and strategist in the topics aforementioned, and hopefully I can teach you some things along the way.
Win search. Generate traffic. Create leads.
Which is more important: a beautiful website with little to no clutter and very little content, or a website that may look a little less "artistic" that is full of content? I am hoping that you pick the second website. This website has the best chance for search engine optimization and winning you search.
Review web analytics
Reviewing web analytics is perhaps one of the single-most important things you can probably do to have a successful internet marketing and web based strategy. The internet provides you the chance to review your data almost immediately several times a day rather than waiting for reports to come in.
