What kind of business are you looking for?

I sat down and thought about where I work. I work at Fusework Studios. I thought about the hard things that most people don't think about. The question I asked myself was "What kind of business would I want Fusework Studios to be?"

So I prepared a list of things that I look for in a business that I work for or that I'd run. I think this exercise really helps to find out if you're the fit for a company or the company fits you. Here are some things that come to mind for myself:

  • Training must be important
  • High value on initiatives and self-empowerment
  • Team collaboration
  • Must not be afraid to make mistakes
  • Forward-thinking

These values are high on my list because they highly resemble my own goals and values. Perhaps the most important is the lack of fear to make mistakes. When a company or person does not make mistakes that means he is not being challenged. This means the safe path has always been taken. There is less room to learn and grow. Some of the biggest failures provide the best lessons.

What values do you hold high in your decision to work at a company?
