My best blog posts of 2010: We’re halfway done

I recently read an article that suggested to do a “best of” post about some of the most trafficked posts on the website over the course of a period or even based on a topic. Today I am focusing on the first half of 2010 up to yesterday (June 14, 2010). At the end of the year we’ll see how the list changes, but today I am going to provide you the top 5 most trafficked blog posts of 2010 on my little corner of the internet. I hope you enjoy. Which is your favorite?

Top 5 Posts of 2010

5. HOW TO: Please an unhappy customer using social media – This post is interestingly one of the most tweeted posts on my website as it was passed through social networks pretty quickly when it landed.

4. Streamlining communication – Ironically enough while it’s not winning in the overall numbers category, this post is beating all others out in longevity as it still attracts traffic to this day via search more than the rest of the top 5. This is also the oldest post out of the top posts of 2010.

3. Win search. Generate traffic. Create leads. – This post is actually tied in total traffic with the number two spot on the list, but the number two spot beat this page out in every statistical category. I was really proud of how this post turned out.

2. Kraft Foods and Capri Sun playing damage control – I am only half-surprised this has landed the number two spot on the list. I have seen a major surge in traffic regarding this issue from many different sources. One of the more surprising results from this post was the lift from search engine traffic which is still growing. This could land number one by the end of today.

1. A new position, a new beginning – It was gut-wrenching to write this post about my departure from Fusework Studios. I knew a career change needed to be made, but the company had done so much for me to get where I was. I wrote about my feelings that lead me to my decision and today it is the most trafficked page to date!

What did I learn?

I find it most interesting the most heavily trafficked sites were the more personal and example-driven posts that I wrote, and the two posts are actually the more recent of the posts I’ve written for the website over the first half of the year. The Capri Sun issue is a hot button issue right now and rightfully so. It’s getting a lot of attention, and I am flattered my site is coming up to serve information and insight to those that read.

Perhaps the top spot shows something important to blogging. I’m finding sometimes it’s good to let the guard down and let people see the person behind the words. It’s these types of posts that make the reader feel like they get to know a little more about the writer. This post certainly did that and holds the number one spot for the year.

I want to thank all of you who have encouraged, inspired and gave guidance in my journey for professional and personal development as shown through this blog. I also want to thank my readers who engage with me every day – even if that means just reading my thoughts.

Which is your favorite post? Do you have another that didn’t make the list?
